Tim Nelson, Ph.D.
DCN Lab Co-Director
Dr. Nelson is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln. His research interests are in pediatric psychology and pediatric health neuroscience. Specifically, his work focuses on the intersection of behavioral, biological, cognitive, social, and environmental influences on child and adolescent health behaviors and outcomes.

Jen Nelson, Ph.D.
DCN Lab Co-Director
Dr. Nelson is the interim Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation and a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln. Her research interests are at the intersection of clinical, developmental, and cognitive neuroscience approaches. Specifically, her research focuses on the development of executive control in childhood, with an eye toward how this development relates to mental health and social adjustment.

Kim Andrews Espy, Ph.D.
DCN Lab Co-Director
Kimberly Andrews Espy, Ph.D., founded UNL’s Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience and currently serves as the President of Wayne State University. Her research focuses on how executive control develops in young children to promote learning, academic, and health outcomes, and the ways in which these abilities are impacted by medical, environmental, and social factors.
